2014 Gear of the Year | Proof Eyewear

We were humbled and honored to be chosen as a Gear of the Year award winner in Outside Magazine's Buyer's Guide for Summer 2014.

Mike Steere chose The Ontario in Zebra Wood for the Sunglass Category, here's why:

"I was taken right off with the design, which makes something classic -- a riff on the 1952 Ray-Ban Wayfarer – fresh and edgy. And there’s much more than novelty. The material and design just work. Of all the evaluated styles, which were great this year, Proof’s woodies got the most, best reactions. I had to keep stealing them back from my daughter and wife. But then the look would not have put them over without crisp, quality optics. First, surprising impression was driving a car with the top down near the beach in LA on a headachy hazy smoggy bright day. To that point I thought the design was really cool but didn’t expect these glasses to make the cut. But then, whoa, the lenses performed like the big boys."

Every year Outside Magazine rolls out their picks for the best summer gear, featuring everything you'll need for hiking, biking, running, and more. We're excited to be one of the 13 pieces of gear that earned this prestigious award!

Be sure to pick up your guide this summer!
